Middle of he Night was recorded on a Roland 2480, a 24 track digital recorder. I was learning how to record during
the process and used the combined knowledge at VS Planet, an online recording forum to complete the project. Many thanks
go out to the people on the Planet for their ready answers and help.
A Nuemann TLM 103 mic was used into either a Grace 101 preamp or Joe Meek VCQ6 pre for vocals and acoustic instruments. The Grace was also used for clean electric sounds and the Meek was used for it's fat and dark nature on many tracks. All musicians where recorded in the same room that the recorder lived in. Currently our recording for CD #2 is going much better mainly due to the fact i can now record drums in another room of my house. I can monitor! What a concept. I ran a Fender P-Bass through the Grace pre and various electric guitars through a first generation pod. It took approximately 7 months to finish the recording making time in between gigs, teaching and family. I am totally excited about the work we are doing on our new CD. Songs about love with happy endings still live with songs about the darker side of life. From rolling down the highway brokenhearted songs to commentary on the political state of our world songs this one will rock harder with more continuity from begining to end. After getting a review on "Middle of the Night" that stated our music was the equivilant of "drinking orange juice after tooth paste" we figure we can only go up in stature! Currently the song "Middle of the Night" has been included on the VS Planet compilation for 2005. Be sure to check out all of the other great music at VS Planet by buying it when available in June. thanks bob |
